Finding a Ponseti Trained Doctor
This episode focuses on the importance of finding a doctor trained in the Ponseti Method for your clubfoot child. I will discuss how we found our casting doctor, what resources we used, and give resources for other parents to utilize on their cutie's treatment journey.
Excerpt From This Episode:
“While the Ponseti method is used worldwide because of its success rate and the effectiveness, and the fact that it's a non-surgical treatment, so you don't need surgical training in order to perform the method, it still is and can be complex.
You need to be well-trained in the Ponseti method in order to really effectively correct the foot and keep the correction. It's important to do your research and find a doctor that you feel comfortable with and that has been trained in the Ponseti method of treatment.
The doctor’s training then becomes even more vital because if they've been trained with Ponseti, under Ponseti, with that method, then you'll have some idea of what the outcome should be.
And if they stick to it pretty rigorously, if they're doing it the way that Ponseti meant for it to be done, then you know that this is a doctor that has been trained and is following those Ponseti method guidelines.
I think it's just really important for you guys to find a doctor that you trust, that you feel like you can communicate with, and you feel that their experience with the Ponseti method is up to the standards that you think it should be as the caregiver for your child.”
